Absolutely not! If you have spent a little time experimenting with “Liberty Boarding” our real live sample Boarding School, then you understand the simplicity of the system. It has been designed such that a senior boarding manager could do it alone or with support from an IT department staffer. Remember your IT department will need to supply you with files of your boarding students to upload. Following the manual, you should be operational the same day you begin setup. This does not require a frustrating setup procedure followed by ongoing support requests.
Unfortunately we are only cloud based. This means we make use of clouds to host and process data – very similar to a bank or atm meaning transactions can be made away from the main buildings. This way parents, staff and students can engage with the system even if they are off campus.
Our setup is deliberately designed to operate independently of other school systems. This approach reduces security risks that arise when data flows through multiple connected platforms.
Once Boarding School Software is up and running, there’s little operational need to be tethered to other systems.
If a boarder leaves or a new one joins, simply archive or add the student within BSS — it’s fast and secure.
Designated school staff – whether administrative, medical, or pastoral – can be given curated access to the system based on their roles.
That said, if your school strongly prefers integration with your existing “day school” system, we can certainly arrange this – just as other boarding systems do. We simply believe it’s cleaner and more secure to keep things separate unless there’s a strong operational need to connect.
Single Sign-On (SSO) options for staff and students are also available for those who prefer one login across multiple applications. This can be activated easily if your IT team supports it.
Yes. Boarding School Software has a broadcast facility whereby everyone on the system or selected groups, can be messaged. This can be designated as emergency or general messaging.
Two Factor Authentication is a minimum standard in dealing with private data whilst Single Sign On is not relevant since we do not interface with other school systems. Staff & students can however apply identical logon credentials to those they already use – if they wish, which can save them having to remember separate logon credentials.
Senior Boarding managers have the liberty to decide on some security protocols depending on your office security and staff profiles.
Boarding School Software has been in design for many years so lots of thought has gone into the system. Boarding School Software is new on the market and tried to consider all the essential features for all boarding schools. Any requests can be considered and customer service is priority just as is offering a full house of functionality. On the down side – we do not have various packages and a variety of add on features that you may want to purchase. Subscribers get access to every feature available but we also think you will want to use all the features on offer. We are experimenting with various forms of biometrics to speed up your processes. When they become available, they may have to be electives because of public opinion around biometrics and of course legislation. We strongly encourage input and suggestions from our clients, this guides our direction and priorities.

Every client has the right to be forgotten. Meaning we adhere to strict data erasure practices and your data will be deleted according to our terms and conditions policy. Should you request it – your accumulated data will be aggregated and provided to you prior to erasure.
Boarding School Software (BSS) – also known as go-liberty – is the same platform, offered under two domain names for different markets. Both share the same secure infrastructure, feature set, and support team. BSS was originally developed for schools on the African continent, but now serves boarding schools worldwide.
The system was designed by Jock Walker-Campbell, a long-standing boarding professional with experience across several top-tier schools, and developed in close consultation with current boarding staff and industry experts.
BSS continues to evolve through feedback from real users – testers, boarding staff, and administrators – who help shape new features and improvements. If your school suggests functionality that isn’t yet available, we’ll review it promptly and, where practical, implement it.
